HOW CAN WE HELP?Helping businesses utilise technology to reach their potential.
Small businesses should never underestimate the need for good data storage to safely backup vital information and to distribute data quickly when required.
All businesses need to think about how they store their data. After all, what would happen if say tomorrow it was all gone? How would that affect your business?
Businesses have two options when it comes to data storage, on-site and off-site. On-site means that the physical storage device (usually a server or NAS) is stored on the company premises. Off-site means it’s held anywhere that isn’t on your company premises (usually the cloud). The are benefits of both.
Benefits of on-site storage
Hosting your data on-site means you have total control over it. You control who has access to it, where it is located and what it is connected to.
However, one big disadvantage of having it on-site is it’s vulnerability to potential theft, fire or natural disasters.
Benefits of off-site storage
Off-site data storage (cloud) can offer businesses a simple, cost-effective and efficient solution. There is no need to invest in expensive hardware on the premises and, with the right software in place, backups can be set to occur automatically.
The main downside to off-site backup compared with on-site system is related to the lack of owner control, which for some businesses may pose an issue.
